WEST VIRGINIA – Robert C. Byrd Health Sciences Center at West Virginia University; School of Dentistry – Faculty Position and Director of Orthodontic Residency, Department of Orthodontics



West Virginia University School of Dentistry is seeking applications effective immediately for a full time, 12 month appointment, tenure-track or clinical-track faculty position at the Assistant/Associate Professor level in the Department of Orthodontics. The Department sponsors a post-graduate training program in Orthodontics.

Responsibilities will include didactic and clinical teaching in Orthodontics to students enrolled in the pre-doctoral, postdoctoral, and dental hygiene programs. The candidate will be expected to maintain an intramural practice and work with residents to provide high quality comprehensive orthodontics to people of West Virginia and the surrounding area. The candidate would provide high quality scholarly activity and service to the University and the School of Dentistry.
This position will work closely with the Chair of Orthodontics in the management of the post-graduate program in Orthodontics and build collaborative relationships with local, State, and national groups that have interest in orthodontics and oral health. Additionally, the candidate will continue to grow the already active clinical services at the School of Dentistry and WVU Hospitals. The candidate should have a proven record of clinical excellence, strong communication skills, team building and a willingness to foster faculty and staff development through continuing education. Prior academic and/or private practice experience is desirable. An MS degree in addition to a specialty certificate in Orthodontics is desirable.

Qualifications :

Candidates must display effective written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills, leadership skills, and strong commitment to diversity and social justice. Candidates must be capable of directing the post-graduate program in Orthodontics.

Salary and academic rank will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
