Job Description
Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor of English with a concentration in Early Modern British Literature and Culture to begin fall 2019. We are particularly interested in candidates with expertise in one or more of the following areas: drama, transnational and/or translation studies, and critical gender, sexuality, and race studies. We seek candidates who demonstrate excellence in their teaching and research. In addition to maintaining an active research agenda, the new hire will have a 3/3 teaching assignment and will be expected to teach a range of literary studies courses including sophomore literature theme-based or survey classes, upper-division courses in the major, and graduate courses in the masters program.

The English Department at TAMUCC offers courses in Literary Studies, Writing Studies, and Applied Linguistics. The department's tenure-line faculty members are involved at both the graduate and undergraduate level. Our students and faculty take advantage of the university's location along the Gulf of Mexico and near the border to foster learning, and they draw on Corpus Christi's unique position in South Texas to encourage research and community involvement.

Required Qualifications:
  • A PhD in English or related field at the time of appointment.
  • An active and successful research agenda specializing in Early Modern British literature.

Preferred qualifications:
  • Expertise in one or more of the following areas: drama, poetry, transnational studies, and critical gender, sexuality, and race studies.

To be considered for the position, all required documentation must be submitted.

A completed application will include:
1) A cover letter;
2) A current curriculum vitae;
3) A list of three professional references.

Review of applications begins immediately and the posting will remain open until November 1, 2018.

All positions are security-sensitive. Applicants are subject to a criminal history investigation, and employment is contingent upon the institution's verification of credentials and/or other information required by the institution's procedures, including the completion of the criminal history check.
