Position Summary:
The Department of English at Monmouth University is seeking applications for an Assistant Professor in African American and/or Latinx Literature. This position is for the 2019-2020 academic year and is tenure-track.

The candidate would be expected to: teach 9 credits per semester (12 credits with a 3-credit course load reduction), including African American and/or Latinx literature at the graduate and undergraduate levels; undergraduate courses in literature, including general education surveys, and composition; serve on departmental and University committees; maintain disciplinary currency; advise students, and provide career mentoring.

The Department of English at Monmouth offers a vibrant environment for its faculty and students. We have undergraduate concentrations in Literature and Creative Writing, and MA concentrations in Literature, Creative Writing, and Rhetoric and Writing. There are opportunities for faculty travel, professional development workshops, and grants for works in progress.

Ph.D. in English with an emphasis in African American and/or Latinx literatures.

Three years of college/university teaching experience.

Must show evidence of excellence in teaching and publication in the area of the candidate’s specialty.
