Georgetown University in Qatar invites applications for a core faculty Full Professor or Advanced Associate Professor position in American Studies. Core faculty positions are full-time positions designed to replicate the institutional commitment to academic freedom and professional opportunities associated with tenure-track and tenured appointments.


We are especially interested in candidates with research and teaching interests in American politics and/or American relations with the world, broadly construed. We will consider candidates with a Ph.D. in American Studies and other relevant fields. The successful candidate will have experience in teaching and mentoring both undergraduate and graduate students. Experience in developing and/or managing graduate programs in American Studies is highly desirable. The successful applicant may be asked to teach a graduate seminar on theories and methods in American Studies. Applicants must have substantial research accomplishments and demonstrate a strong commitment to excellence in teaching and research.


The teaching load for core faculty is 2-2. Colleagues with senior core faculty status are eligible to apply for periodic research sabbaticals.
