The Department of Geography in the College of Earth, Ocean, and Environment invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor of human geography beginning September 2019. We seek a scholar who shows exceptional promise as an intellectual leader in the field of political ecology emphasizing quantitative or mixed methods with a focus on natural resources. However, applicants with expertise in any sub-discipline of human geography are invited to apply.

This position will provide the opportunity to interact with colleagues in the department's well-established climatology and physical geography programs, new hires in GIS and big data, and connections to units on campus including the Environmental Humanities Working Group, Area Studies Programs, the Water Science and Policy Graduate Program, the Delaware Environmental Institute, and the Disaster Research Center. The Geography Department at the University of Delaware is a nationally and internationally recognized department that offers undergraduate degrees in Geography, Environmental Science and Environmental Studies, and Meteorology, MA and MS degrees in Geography, Ph.D. degrees in Geography and Climatology, and a graduate-level certificate program in Geographic Information Science. Our research and teaching interact extensively with programs across campus and beyond. Questions regarding this position (but not applications) may be addressed to the committee chair Dana Veron, dveron@udel.edu. Review of applications will begin on October 5, 2018, and will continue until the position is filled. Further information about our department and programs may be found at http://www.udel.edu/Geography.

QUALIFICATIONS:

The successful candidate will be expected to develop an ambitious research program with a high level of publication and external support, enhance human geography course offerings and mentor students in our degree programs, and offer service to the department, college, university, profession, and community. A Ph.D. in Geography or related discipline is required at the time of appointment.
