JOB DESCRIPTION

The University of Indianapolis, Department of Communication, seeks applicants for an Assistant Professor, Professor of Practice or Instructor with expertise in sports communication. This position will be tenure track for candidates who possess a terminal degree or are ABD. The successful candidate will teach primarily undergraduate courses; maintain a research agenda; and provide service to the department, university, city, and/or discipline. This position will begin January 2021 (preferred) or August 2021.



Indianapolis is home to many sports organizations including the Colts (NFL), Pacers (NBA), Fever (WNBA), Indians (AAA Baseball), Indy Eleven (USL), the NCAA and the Indiana High School Athletic Association. The city also hosts a variety of college and professional championships.

UIndy’s location on the near south side of downtown positions our students to take advantage of many available educational and occupational opportunities. We seek a candidate who can demonstrate an ability to build relationships in order to create, continue and expand opportunities for our students. This will likely involve the successful candidate in curriculum development.

Required Qualifications: Applicants must have a Master’s degree and at least three years of teaching or related experience.

Preferred Qualifications: Ideally, we seek candidates who also possess a terminal degree and at least three years of teaching at the college level.

RESPONSIBILITIES

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Master’s degree required (terminal degree preferred)
  • Minimum of three years of teaching or related experience required
