The School of Education at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga College of Health Education and Professional Studies invites applications for a 9-month tenured-track faculty position in Child & Family Studies beginning August 1, 2021. Candidates should hold a degree in Child and Family Studies or related fields. The faculty member will contribute to a rich tradition of teaching both undergraduate and graduate courses, conducting research, and providing professional service in a setting with excellent opportunities for interdisciplinary collaboration. Successful candidates must have a strong interest in and commitment to early learning, family and community partnerships, collaboration, inclusion, and diversity. The School of Education is recognized as a part of an engaged metropolitan university with extensive partnerships with community organizations.

Successful candidates will possess the following requirements:
Doctorate in Child and Family Studies, Early Learning, Consumer Science or related field is required. Individuals who are (ABD) will be considered for faculty positions at UTC; however, the degree must be awarded within twelve months after the first date of employment.

Primary Qualifications:

  • Three or more years’ experience in a Child and Family Studies
  • Experience teaching in higher education
  • Experience in collaboration with community partners and stakeholders
  • Demonstrate potential for excellence in instruction and supervision
  • Willingness to engage in a variety of instructional modalities, including online instruction


  • Teach undergraduate and graduate courses as needed in a teaching-focused department
  • Engage in an ative research agenda
  • Supervise and plan practicum and/or internship experiences
  • Participate in service to the university, community and profession
  • Advise undergraduate students
  • Demonstrate a commitment to cultural diversity, collaboration, and social justice
