To provide professional library services with emphasis on reference and instruction, under the direction of the Director, Library Services.

Principal Accountabilities

Principal Accountabilities

1. Promotes information literacy by teaching students the knowledge and skills to access and evaluate information effectively, using current technologies in a classroom setting.

2. Participates in the development, implementation and evaluation of effective library instructional programs.

3. Provides reference and research services to students, faculty, and other library users using electronic and print tools and resources.

4. Designs and develops library instructional materials and guides in print and electronic forms.

5. Participates in management and configuration of the library integrated software, website, and electronic databases.

6. Collaborates with faculty regarding library assignments, instruction, collection development, etc.

7. Participates in library planning and the development of policies and procedures.

8. Participates in evaluation and development of the library collection.

9. Trains and supervises non-professional library staff; shares in the management of public service operations.

10. Works collaboratively with college faculty and administration. Serves on faculty councils and committees.

11. Participates in professional activities and maintains familiarity with theory, practices, and trends in college libraries.

12. Performs related duties and tasks as assigned.

Master’s Degree in Library/Information Science or its equivalent.

4. Knowledge of instructional concepts, methodologies, technologies and the goals of information literacy.

5. Familiarity with library integrated software, databases, and print and non-print resources relevant to academic libraries and the ability to use and teach them effectively.

6. Ability to work effectively and enthusiastically with freshman and sophomore students.

7. Ability to use current technologies to facilitate instruction and reference duties and data collection.

Master’s degree from an ALA -accredited institution strongly preferred.

Training and/or experience in the following areas:

1. Teaching in a classroom setting using a variety of instructional approaches and technologies. Planning lessons and assessing learning outcomes of instruction sessions.

2. Providing individualized instruction in research methods through reference service using a variety of traditional and electronic resources.

3. Creation of research guides, preferably using LibGuides software.

4. Creation of documents, spreadsheets, publications, and presentations with Microsoft Office applications.
