General Description of Position
Under the general supervision of the Associate Dean and Program Director, the Adjunct Instructor, is responsible for instructing students in various Criminal Justice courses (as needed) in a classroom/Internet/Interactive TV setting. Teaching assignments for this position include, but are not limited to:
Introduction to Criminal Justice
Introduction to Corrections
Police & Society
Community-Based Corrections: Parole & Probation
Corrections Administration
Jail Management Training Certification
Criminology
Ethics in Criminal Justice
This instructor develops course objectives, implements teaching strategies which include but are not limited to multimedia presentations and computer aided instruction, advises students, monitors and evaluates student progress and keeps accurate student records. The instructor will deliver instruction in a classroom setting and online.
Minimum Qualifications
1. Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice or related field; Master’s Degree within 3 years with at least 18 hours of graduate credit in Criminal Justice or related field.
2. Two (2) years’ experience in the field of Criminal Justice/Corrections/Law Enforcement.
3. Experience in working in online classroom delivery systems or the ability to learn to teach in the online community.
Desired Qualifications
1. Master’s Degree in Criminal Justice or related field.
2. Teaching experience at secondary or post-secondary level that applies directly to area(s) of instructional responsibility.
3. Two (2) years of recent verifiable experience in management.
