Custodian I - (STA005866)

Under direct supervision, performs basic cleaning duties.

1. Sweeps, mops and scrubs floors, stairs and other surfaces inside and outside buildings.
2. Vacuums carpet in offices, rooms and public areas; scrubs, strips, waxes, and buffs floors using powered scrubber and buffer; shampoos carpet and rugs using shampooing machine.
3. Empties wastebaskets, pencil sharpeners, smoking urns, ashtrays, etc. into containers or plastic bags; replaces liners in wastebaskets; places trash in collection area for removal.
4. Wipes, dusts and/or polishes furniture, fixtures, glass doors and windows, door trims, etc.
5. Wipes and scrubs sinks, toilets and tiles; removes supplies from janitorial closet and replenishes soaps, towels, toilet paper, etc.
6. Notifies appropriate supervisor of potential safety and maintenance issues and when supplies and materials need to be replenished.
7. Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Qualifications :

Eight years of school and No experience.

Requires the ability to read, write and follow simple oral instructions as might normally be acquired through up to 8 years of formal schooling. No experience is required.

This is a broadband requisition; the department will be hiring for Custodian 1 & 2 from this requisition. Selected applications interviewed, the hiring manager will determine based on experience, position availability and the outcome of the interview of what level Custodian the candidate will be hired.

Note : This position is shift work. The hiring manager and shift availability will determine candidates who are selected, your shift. The 3 shifts are:

• Day shift 6am to 2:30pm
• Evening shift 2:30pm to 11pm
• Night shift 10pm to 6:30am

Please note: This position is an essential position for Facilities and Construction Management. Essential position will be required to perform the work needed if directed by management even when the office or university is closed and may be required to report to work.
