Job Description

The Virginia-Maryland College of Veterinary Medicine, Department of Large Animal Clinical Sciences, invites applications from qualified individuals for a full-time, calendar year non-tenure track Clinical Assistant/Associate Professor position in Food Animal Field Services. Applicants must possess a DVM or equivalent degree. Practice experience with food animals is required. Diplomate status or eligibility for certification examination by an AVMA specialty college is preferred. Clinical teaching experience, demonstrated commitment to service and excellent communication and interpersonal skills are desirable attributes for this position. The position consists of didactic, laboratory and clinical instruction in food animal medicine and surgery, including production medicine. Clinical service (70%) will be to participate in the Food Animal Field Services unit of the Production Management Medicine Service of the Veterinary Teaching Hospital, including individual patient management, herd health management, and consultation with clients in the local practice area. Additional responsibility will include participation in the emergency service with other clinicians. The successful candidate will be expected to participate in continuing education and outreach programs of the College of Veterinary Medicine. Didactic instruction (20%) will include participation in professional instruction on topics related to food animal health. Scholarly activity and participation in collaborative research will be expected (10%). Rank will be as a non-tenure track Clinical Assistant Professor with a calendar year appointment. Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience of the successful candidate. The starting date for the position is July 1, 2020.

Required Qualifications

DVM or equivalent degree.
Practice experience with food animals is required.

Preferred Qualifications

Diplomate status or eligibility for certification examination by an AVMA specialty college or board is preferred.

Salary Information

Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience of the successful candidate.
