The Department of Religious Studies at Bates College invites applications for a one-year sabbatical replacement position, to teach in Jewish Studies and Christianity Studies, beginning September 1, 2018. The teaching load is five courses over two semesters: 2-3 or 3-2. Area of specialization is open; and specialists in either or both areas of study are equally encouraged to apply. To be fully considered, please describe how you will contribute to these goals in your cover letter and/or statements.

Review of applications will begin in February 1, and will continue until the position is filled. Applicants should submit a cover letter, a curriculum vitae, three letters of recommendation, statement of teaching philosophy and prospective course offerings, graduate transcripts, and a representative sample of course syllabi and research scholarship via Interfolio at the following link: https://apply.interfolio.com/48275
