The William States Lee College of Engineering (COE) at the
University of North Carolina at Charlotte invites nominations and
applications for the Belk-Woodward Distinguished Professor in
Engineering. The position will be filled at the rank of Professor
within any of the College’s five departments (Civil and
Environmental Engineering, Electrical and Computing Engineering,
Engineering Technology and Construction Management, Mechanical
Engineering and Engineering Science, and Systems Engineering and
An experienced, dynamic candidate who can collaboratively lead
the College’s pursuit of excellence in research is desired.
Candidates should have a clear vision for advancing the research
mission of the College through the development of a long-term
research agenda that opens new avenues of research while
complementing and enhancing existing research programs.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: The
successful candidate will maintain a high level of productivity in
research as evidenced through sustained level of scholarly
publications, extramural funding, and graduate student mentoring.
Additional responsibilities include teaching, mentoring faculty,
participating in programmatic development in the college, and
engaging in professional and university service.
Qualifications: This position is open to
applicants with credentials and experience appropriate for
appointment at the rank of Professor in the College of Engineering.
Candidates should have 1) an earned doctorate in Engineering or a
related field, 2) an outstanding record of scholarly
accomplishments and funded research, 3) a demonstrated ability to
work across disciplines to build and lead a collaborative research
enterprise, and 4) a strategic vision for a transformative research
