Position Summary

The University of Georgia ofers a unique opportunity to join four full-time radiologists in an exceptionally well-equipped imaging environment. Current equipment includes a Siemens Skyra 3.0 Tesla MRI magnet and Siemens Somatom Sensation 64 slice CT both of which accommodate large and small animals, GE S8 and Tosiba Xario ultrasounds, Canon fuoroscopy, Canon digital radiography, Fuji CR, a dedicated IR suite with OEC 9900 Elite mobile C-arm fuoroscopy, IS2 Research NuCamma SR 53cm x 39 cm Free Floater gamma camera (Mirage nuclear medicine software) and integrated DICOM viewing and archival system (Lexmark Nil Viewer and Mach 7 VNA ).The rank of assistant professor is for candidates who have recently completed their residency. Ranks of associate or full professor are for candidates who have achieved that rank at peer institutions. Appointment may be clinical or tenure track. The College will also explore non-traditional tracks with candidates who may desire clinical and didactic interactions with house officers and veterinary students, within an ultra-modern veterinary teaching hospital, while at the same time preserving broad professional and personal goals.

Responsibilities will include didactic teaching and clinical training of veterinary medical students, house officers, and radiology residents. Teaching, service activities, and clinical responsibilities will be shared with other faculty radiologists. Interested candidates will have the opportunity for independent and collaborative research, basic science or clinical.

Additional Requirements

Candidates must possess a DVM or equivalent degree. Must be a Diplomate in the American College of Veterinary Radiology or European College of Veterinary Diagnostic Imaging or be eligible for board certification.

Clinical track (non-tenure track):
Clinical Assistant Professor
Candidates should be board certified or eligible for board certification. Candidates should show evidence of a high level of competence and demonstrated promise of moving toward excellence in patient care, student instruction, scholarly activities, or practice and service.

Clinical Associate Professor
Board certification and a minimum of five years at the rank of clinical assistant professor, or comparable experience. Clear and convincing evidence of stature as a regional authority. Demonstrated excellence in clinical competency and documented excellence in patient care, student instruction, scholarly activities, or practice and service.

Clinical Professor Qualifications
Board certification and at least five years at the rank of clinical associate professor, or comparable experience.
Excellence in clinical competency and recognized at the national level as an authority. Documented excellence in patient care, student instruction, scholarly activities, professional leadership, or practice and service. Candidates should demonstrate superior performance and be recognized by students or peers as an outstanding educator.

Tenure track or Tenured:
Assistant Professor
Candidates should show promise of moving toward excellence in the criteria appropriate to their work assignment.

Associate Professor
Board certification and a minimum of five years at the rank of assistant professor. Clear and convincing evidence of stature as a regional and emerging or existing national authority.

Full Professor
Board certification and at least five years at the rank of associate professor or attainment of rank of professor with tenure at an academic institution. Clear and convincing evidence of stature as a national and emerging or existing international authority.

To be eligible for tenure upon appointment, candidates must be appointed as an associate or full professor, have been tenured at a prior institution, and bring a demonstrably national reputation to the institution. Candidates must be approved for tenure upon appointment before hire.
