About the Opportunity
SUMMARY:
Northeastern University is seeking a highly driven, self-motivated, and enthusiastic person to help build and shape the Supervising Producer Live Engagement role in the EDGE division. This role is central to student success and will partner closely with Studio Production Managers to analyze best practices in live studio production to a virtual classroom audience that differentiates from competitors and leverages Northeastern's strengths. The ideal candidate must be excited to discover and analyze new live streaming workflows and applications in multimedia while also staying up to date on the latest studio camera and filming techniques and tactics. This position requires a high level of cross-functional collaboration, teamwork, and excellent communication. The ideal candidate should possess strong video production, video editing, directional and organizational skills to maintain control of a live production from the first pre-production meeting to the completion of post-production deliverables. Additionally, it is the Supervising Producer's priority to assist in studio set up and break down, coaching faculty, staff, and students whose various experience on camera will vary greatly, de-risk projects, and ensure projects are effectively managed, providing regular status updates and reports to both internal and external stakeholders. The Supervising Producer must also be ready to onboard, mentor, and manage new team members in all aspects of studio recording and live production.
The Producer will project manage large complex live production projects with excellent organizational and information management skills. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Interface closely with Faculty and Staff to drive a
high-quality production while maintaining an efficient working
environment for all involved
- Identify workflows from pre to post-production and assign
project goals to Northeastern faculty and staff as well as
Northeastern client personnel
- Coordinate team meetings around live productions, identify
proper members within your team to help deliver the best possible
production
- Oversee production of pre-show ‘marketing' elements to be
shared with students and Faculty alike
- Identify any equipment needs when upgrades or new equipment is
necessary to be purchased
- Multimedia Production Maintenance
- Maintain multimedia production value of Northeastern's online
courses from pre-course to course run and post-course
deliverables
- Pre-course launch coaching of Faculty to optimize their
film-from-home production
- Efficiently produce recordings of all remote live sessions in
an organized and cohesive manner
- Identify areas of improvement for Faculty in their remote live
sessions
- Envision and implement innovative ways in which students and
Faculty can connect in a remote classroom environment
- Studio Management, including familiarity with current lighting
and sound protocols
- Assist in studio management, maintenance and
production
- Provide perspective on best camera locations and tactics to
maximize the use of the studio space
- Regularly move, adjust and operate camera, lighting and sound
equipment while directing Faculty and Staff in studio for their
on-camera work
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's degree required, ideally in video production or a
creative liberal arts degree. 4 - 6 years experience in live video
production strongly preferred
- Strong technical acumen and creative production skills.
Experience building, producing and directing recorded and live
studio productions
- Strong communication skills with the ability to coach on-camera
talent who are approaching this work for the first time. Identify
and eliminate obstacles, anticipate and solve problems.
Incorporates creative and high production quality while maintaining
efficiency in all aspects
- Demonstrates leadership, networking and organizational skills.
and knowing when to use other members of his or her team to produce
the best results; ability to interact with faculty and staff in a
sensitive manner, maintaining positive relationships and building
consensus
- Strong project management, workflow, and process skills;
experience managing complex live projects from pre-production
design to post-production deliverables
- Has a director's eye and can contribute to studio look, feel
and design
- Ability to influence without authority. Ability to “manage up”
with senior leadership.
- Ability to work effectively in a remote environment when
necessary
- Maintain overall production quality of courses while they are
in session, ability to produce high quality recordings and faculty
video on a weekly basis
- Exceptional organizational skills, able to multitask in a
fast-paced environment with changing priorities
- Proficient in advanced Adobe editing applications such as
Premiere Pro, Photoshop, etc. but ready to learn new applications
if/when Adobe competitors challenge the industry
standard
