Department Summary

The Professional and Continuing Education (PaCE) department resides in the College of Extended and Global Education. PaCE extends university resources to accommodate the educational and professional development needs of today's workforce in a variety of program formats and settings.

Job Summary

The position serves the Professional and Continuing Education (PaCE) department by planning, developing, and providing learning opportunities offered through Professional and Continuing Education (PaCE) such as special sessions, and other educational programs concerned the with delivery of higher education for professional updating and mid-career training.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Administer and oversee a programs portfolio as assigned.
  • Conduct research in identifying new program development opportunities to meet the needs of the surrounding communities and Inland Empire.
  • Seek new partnerships and nurture partner relationships by attending networking and maintaining relationships on and off-campus.
  • Develop and maintain financial reports, year-end financial summaries, and financial distributions to campus partners and within CEGE. Provide recommendations about financial and operational efficiency of all programs administered.
  • Identify challenged programs and create plans for recovery, or for pausing or sunsetting, depending on the outcome of basic analysis.
  • Develop road maps and course offerings for the successful completion of programs. Serve as a CEGE representative and present at university events to promote programs.
  • Collaborate with CEGE marketing team to develop promotional materials, and to target and advertise to audiences in the Inland Empire and beyond.
  • Develop and implement marketing strategies to ensure programs sustainability, including updating program webpages using a content management system. Collaborate with marketing staff to develop promotional materials.


Employment Status: Full-time, Exempt, Probationary with the possibility of converting to permanent.

Work Schedule

Monday through Friday from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, weekends and evenings may be required. Summer hours Monday through Thursday 7:00 am to 5:30 pm.



Key Qualifications
  • Ability to plan and develop content and format of educational offerings in assigned program areas usually related to the same or related disciplines, promote community participation (marketing), direct operational aspects of programs, make arrangements for faculty and sites, and prepare budgets for offerings.
  • Knowledge of the procedures and practices in educational program and curriculum planning; resources of the campus and the surrounding community; and the processes required to plan and construct academic programs and course outlines.
  • Ability to determine needs for new or revised programs; plan course hours and credit; locate instructors and assist them in understanding and completing contract arrangements; develop budgets and analyze costs; write promotional materials and develop a variety of promotional techniques; represent the CSU system to the community and develop working relationships; manage logistics of providing classes, and maintain cost information and records.



Education and Experience
  • Equivalent to graduation from a four-year college or university, preferably with courses in adult education and curriculum planning.
  • Equivalent to two years of experience in planning classes or programs in a specialized field or area, preferably in higher, extended, or adult education. Experience developing resources, budgets, and marketing plans for educational programs and acting as a liaison with the community is desirable. Teaching experience in higher or extended education may be substituted for experience on a year-for-year basis.



Preferred Qualifications
  • A master's degree in a related field and three years of related experience.

Salary

Anticipated Hiring Range $4,493 - $4,550 per month

Classification Salary Range $4,493 - $6,395 per month
