Associate Director of Student Employment

About the Opportunity

Summary & Responsibilities:

The Associate Director of Student Employment will direct and manage the customer service operation of the Office of Student Employment, Graduate Assistantships & Fellowships (SEGAF). Maintain primary responsibility for all weekly payroll operations, hiring operations and customer service operations. Hire, train and supervise all Student Employment student employees and staff. Be the primary liaison with campus partners (including Student Financial Services, HRM, OGS, PhD Network, Career Design, Co-op) and all student supervisors. Maintain training material including Job Aids and other training guides. Train all staff and student employee supervisors regarding financial aid regulations, payroll policies, procedures and regulations and the use of student payment processing systems. Monitor all Federal Work Study earnings for compliance with federal regulations and budgetary limits. Monitor all payroll operations to ensure compliance with MA state regulations. Primarily responsible for the Job Location and Development (JLD) federal program, including tracking of hires and earnings for federal reporting purposes. Develop and maintain job opportunities, both on and off campus, with student employers. Conduct site visits to ensure compliance with all employment regulations. Primarily contact for conflict resolution between student employees and supervisors. Assist with all Salesforce PhD Network records and Period Activity Pay entries; especially for Stipend Graduate Assistant and Student Part Time Lecturer hiring and payroll operations. Assist with contact for all Graduate school key contacts and SGA administrators. Assist with reconciling earnings and data preparation for required annual federal reporting. Oversee student engagement efforts.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree preferred. 4-6 years of experience with student employment and payroll processing in a higher education setting. Experience with Workday and MS Office required. Knowledge of PowerFaids and Banner preferred. Knowledge of payroll and Title IV regulations required. Ability to work in a fast paced environment with specific deadlines to accomplish tasks, ability to multitask and be organized as well as be a self-starter, ability to work independently, attention to detail. High level of customer service skills, demonstrated through direct student and employer contact. Strong communication, interpersonal and organizations skills, including the ability to give presentations to any size group of students, parents and university staff. Demonstrated ability working with a diverse student population. Flexible work schedule.
