Established in 1887 as a school for the education of American
Indians, The University of North Carolina at Pembroke serves a

The Department of History seeks part-time or adjunct faculty to
teach courses in the following general education subject areas:
American Civilizations to 1877, American Civilizations since 1877,
African American History since 1500, American Indian History to
1865, American Indian History since 1865, World Civilizations to
1500, and/or World Civilizations since 1500.

coursework, research, and/or teaching experience most relevant to
the course content you are seeking to teach.
Adjunct positions are especially suited for potential faculty who
possess terminal degrees in History or have a minimum of 18 hours
of approved graduate course work in relevant fields of History.

has a strong commitment to undergraduate teaching and part-time
faculty are expected to exhibit and maintain campus and department

Work Location: Main campus of UNCP and designated
off-campus sites
Minimum Training and Experience Requirements: Applicants must have a Ph.D. in History or a Master’s Degree in History or a related field that includes a minimum of 18 hours of graduate work in History. All degrees must come from accredited institutions. Strong consideration will be afforded to candidates who exhibit a demonstrated record of professional experience and success in undergraduate teaching. For positions that may include online teaching, candidates are expected to demonstrate an ability to successfully structure and implement a distance-education based course. Prefer prior experience teaching in higher education.
