Required Qualifications:
  • Ph.D. or Ed.D. in educational leadership, higher education/student affairs, or a related discipline. Degree at time of application or official notification of completion of the doctoral degree by August 1, 2022.
  • Demonstrated potential for effective teaching at the graduate level
  • Demonstrated commitment to working successfully with a diverse student population

  • Preferred Qualifications:
  • Demonstrated effectiveness in teaching graduate courses related to: diversity in U.S. higher education, foundations of student affairs, student development theory, teaching and learning in higher education, and/or theories of adult counseling.
  • Experience and demonstrated effectiveness teaching online and/or hybrid courses
  • Experience in student affairs coordination, managerial, or leadership positions in 2-year or 4-year higher education institutions
  • Experience and demonstrated effectiveness in instruction and in coordinating work around diversity, equity, and inclusion, including working with student groups, Intergroup Dialogue, and/or supporting instructional practices that promote inclusive environments.
  • Demonstrated effectiveness in project management, including the ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously, take the initiative, communicate effectively, and work independently
  • Experience and demonstrated effectiveness in supporting students' graduate-level writing
  • Demonstrated effectiveness in or potential for thesis and/or dissertation advising
  • Demonstrated experience working with populations demographically and socioeconomically similar to the CSULB student body.

  • Duties:
  • Teach master's and doctoral level courses (to new practitioners and working professionals). [Mode of instruction may include in-person, hybrid, online, and/or any combination thereof.]
  • Participate in the coordination of diversity, equity, and inclusion work, including but not limited to the review and revision of instructional and pedagogical practices in the doctoral program, as well as facilitating the work of the student Racial Equity Fellows.
  • Provide support for other initiatives, such as targeted recruitment efforts in the department and/or facilitating graduate-level writing.
  • Chair and/or serve on thesis and dissertation committees
