Position Description Summary/Purpose :
The Systems Administrator handles all aspects of the configuration and maintenance of our computer systems. This position diagnoses and resolves problems quickly. The primary goal is to ensure that the College’s technology infrastructure runs smoothly and efficiently.
Essential Job Functions/Primary Responsibilities :
- Performs daily monitoring and availability for all servers and resources.
- Maintains and verifies the backup operations and procedures.
- Creates and maintains the user accounts in Active Directory and email, among other areas.
- Builds and rebuilds servers and other hardware as required.
- Acts in a Tier 2 and 3 Helpdesk support role as needed, and as a backup to the Tier 1 Helpdesk roles.
- Responds to and presents information to inquiries and/or complaints from all levels within and outside the organization.
- Acts as oversight for Systems Specialists duties to ensure established standards and policies are consistently being followed.
- Leads technical discussions and solution design.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule.
- Conducts all work in a safe manner and all work safety practices are followed.
- Performs similar or related work as required, directed or as situation dictates.
- Continues professional development and training; keeps current with trends.
- Assists other department staff as needed to promote a team effort.
- Ability to read, analyze and interpret common technical journals
- Ability to lead colleagues in technical discussions and solution design
- Strong communication skills; able to explain technical issues to non-experts
- Strong diagnostic, evaluation, analysis and problem-solving skills
- Resourcefulness
Education, Training, and Experience:
- Requires a A.S. and/or 2 to 4 years of related experience, preferably in an educational environment
- MCSE is highly desirable, as is administrative experience with Kaspersky, Microsoft SCCM, MS-SQL server, VMWare and other systems
