Position Title Post-Doctoral Fellow- Chemistry The Opportunity

Professor Dylan Domaille in the Chemistry Department at the Colorado School of Mines is seeking a post-doctoral fellow to work on sponsored projects related to biomaterials engineering and fluorescent probe design and synthesis. The successful candidate is expected to work effectively in a collaborative, interdisciplinary environment with other members of the group and effectively interface with internal and external collaborators.

  • Multi-step organic synthesis of small-molecule fluorescent probes and hydrogels for tracking cellular processes in oxidative metabolism and mechanobiology;
  • Write reports and peer-review publications.
  • Prepare and present update material related to research progress.
  • Serve as mentor to graduate and undergraduate students.

  • Performs other duties as assigned

Physical Requirements:
  • Must be able to re-locate and work in-person in the laboratory.
Potential Environmental Conditions/Hazards:
  • Be skilled in the handling of common solvents and chemical reagents used in synthetic chemistry.
Minimum Qualifications

Education and Experience:
  • PhD. in Chemistry or Chemical Engineering or related field. All PhD requirements should be completed by the time work commences.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Previous research experience in organic synthesis, ideally related to small-molecule fluorescent probes and/or hydrogels;
Preferred Qualifications

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Experience with fluorescence microscopy and/or qRT-PCR;
  • Previous research in eukaryotic cell culture

Pay Range

$50,000.00 - $63,000.00

Mines takes into consideration a combination of candidate’s education, training and experience as well as the position’s scope and complexity, the discretion and latitude required in the role, work location, and external market and internal value when determining a salary level for potential new employees.
