The Administrative Assistant in the Dean’s Office provides administrative support to the Executive Assistant to the Dean, Assistant Deans, and Committee Chairs.
The position serves as the first point of contact for the Dean’s Office and provides customer service to all visitors to the suite.
Works with the Executive Assistant to the Dean to coordinate and complete administrative processes, including faculty committee work and special projects. Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree or Associate’s degree with equivalent combination of education and relevant experience preferred (3-5 years of working experience in administrative environment).
Experience in an academic setting strongly preferred. Job Specific Qualifications
Strong organizational and communication skills (verbal and written) required.
The ability to be part of a team, follow and provide direction, and prioritize work simultaneously and accurately amidst constant interruptions in a fast-paced environment is essential.
This position requires the professional skills necessary for discreet, effective, and courteous interaction with alumni, faculty, administrators, staff, and students.
This is a high profile and critical position that represents the College of Law. It is essential that the person in this position exercise sound judgement, confidentiality, well-developed communication skills, professionalism, and tact when interacting with members of the College of Law, University, and the public.

  • Provide a range of support to the Executive Assistant to the Dean, the Assistant Deans, and Committee Chairs as assigned. This requires independent judgement with a high level of confidentiality.
  • Serve as the first point of contact for the Dean’s Office for students, faculty, staff, alumni, and others by phone, in-person, and on email. Perform customer service duties by providing general information and responding to inquiries and connect to appropriate parties where applicable.
  • Update College of Law website including faculty profiles, faculty publications, and directory. Update the COL staff and faculty database in Access. Update faculty attendance, syllabi compliance, faculty workshops, and COL events in the COL metrics where applicable. Update office signage as necessary.
  • Responsible for the day-to-day operations of the Dean’s Office including ordering office supplies, reconciling credit card transactions, processing purchase requisitions, Interdepartmental Orders, and other miscellaneous financial processing.
  • Maintain memberships and process related payments for organizations such as American Bar Association ( ABA ), Association of American Law Schools ( AALS ), American Society of International Law ( ASIL ), and Lawyers Diary and Manual.
  • Cross-train with other administrative and support staff in the Dean’s Office.
  • Train and manage work study students on assigned duties as required.
