The Assistant Registrar is a functional expert with thorough knowledge of student information systems, business practices, academic policy, compliance matters and operational procedures in the Records and Registration Office, with specialization in curriculum management, degree requirements, academic appeals, graduation audits, transfer credit, academic credentials, and more.

Duties include supervising the front-line staff; assisting the Registrar with back-end processes such as term set-up and grade roll; assisting with transfer evaluations as needed; making sure the College stays compliant with and new legislations such as The Transfer with Success Act and researching and providing input to the Registrar on proposed policy and procedure changes; managing the graduation application process through conferral including final graduation audits; communicating College policies and procedures related to Records and Registration to constituent groups; handling difficult interactions between students and front-line staff; completing Board of Trustee reports; and performing other duties as assigned. The Assistant Registrar serves as the direct back-up to the Registrar.

This is an exempt, professional staff position.

Employees of Harford Community College, including instructors for online and virtual courses, must be residents of Maryland or the contiguous states of Delaware, Pennsylvania, Virginia, West Virginia or the District of Columbia; non-residents are expected to relocate to meet this requirement.

A bachelor’s degree and three to five years of related experience is required, including strong Student Information Systems experience.  Other requirements include the ability to recommend, implement, and streamline processes related to the registrar’s office; knowledge of required compliance and operational procedures associated with higher education registration, degree requirements, transfer credits, graduation audits and related areas; intermediate student information system knowledge and skills; and intermediate MS Office Suite and Office 365 skills.  Experience using Banner student information system is preferred.
