Dabney S. Lancaster Community College (DSLCC) is a two-year public institution of higher education and one of 23 community colleges in Virginia. The college is supported by the Commonwealth of Virginia; the counties of Alleghany, Bath, Botetourt (northern portion) and Rockbridge; the cities of Buena Vista, Covington, and Lexington; and the town of Clifton Forge.  DSLCC provides opportunities for the extension of knowledge, skills and personal enrichment in an environment that maintains high academic standards and respect for each individual. Dabney S. Lancaster Community College (DSLCC) is currently seeking one Full-Time Faculty, for a 9-month,Instructor starting August 16, 2022. The nursing faculty member will be responsible for instructing courses in the Associate Degree Nursing (A.D.N) program and the Licensed Practical Nursing (L.P.N.) certificate.


The A.D.N. and L.P.N. credentials receive accreditation from the Virginia Board of Nursing and the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools, Commission on Colleges (SACS-COC) and serve students in the Virginia counties of Rockbridge, Alleghany, Bath and northern Botetourt and the cities of Covington, Lexington and Buena Vista.


This is a full-time position with benefits and carries the classification of “Teaching Faculty” as described in Virginia Community College System policy. Teaching Faculty are evaluated in the domains of teaching, scholarly and creative engagement, service, and institutional responsibility.


Position Requirements:

  • Teaching in a concept-based curriculum
  • Teaching in lecture, campus labs, clinical at various agencies within the service area,
  • 15 workload credits per semester
  • Attendance at summer professional development and ongoing participation in professional development
  • Annual service to the college, examples include faculty committees and student organizations
  • Annual community service


KSA's/Required Qualifications:         

  • Master’s Degree in Nursing
  • Unencumbered RN license
  • At least 2 years of direct patient care experience as an RN
  • Experience in Medical/Surgical Nursing
  • Computer abilities: Proficient in Microsoft Word, mail, internet usage


Preferred Qualifications   

  • Teaching experience at the LPN or RN level
  • Experience using learning management systems such as Canvas
  • Experience using classroom equipment: projectors, computers, software
