Job Description:

The Flow Cytometry Core Operator operates and performs maintenance/quality control of high-speed cell sorters and cell analyzers in an institutional shared core facility. They will also provide end-user training and provides expertise on experimental design and data analysis.

Examples of Duties:

• Perform calibration, operation, maintenance and basic repair of high-speed cell sorters, analyzers, and other facility equipment including a blood cell analyzer and a laser microdissection microscope.

• Carry out and/or assist scientists with data analysis using various software packages, including DiVa, FlowJo, and SpectroFlo.

• Assist scientists with experimental design and instrument operation.

• Identify and diagnose problems, perform trouble-shooting and limited instrument repair, and communicate with external technical and application support scientists.

• Keep instrument and data records.

Expected Salary:

Commensurate with experience.

Minimum Requirements:

Bachelor's degree in appropriate specialization and two years of flow cytometry experience. Knowledge of flow cytometry principles and basic flow cytometry experience is preferred.

Preferred Qualifications:

Master’s degree preferred.
