  • Edit, critique and nurture student work, in English and in Spanish, to ensure it meets professional standards
  • Support students’ employment pursuits by fostering networking connections, job/internship opportunities and professional development.
  • Manage initiative budgets, together with school leaders and other professional program faculty
  • Foster a culture of innovation by harnessing fresh ideas and experimenting with new tools, technologies and techniques that enhance digital storytelling and audience connection
  • Perform other faculty responsibilities, such as committee assignments and assisting in student recruitment.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

About the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation Southwest Health Reporting and Health Communications Initiatives

The Cronkite School is a national leader in news media coverage of communities along the U.S.-Mexico border and across the Southwest. Cronkite is also a leading provider of Spanish-language news and information on digital and broadcast platforms. The Robert Wood Johnson Foundation Southwest Health Reporting Initiative, launched in 2019, has built on and significantly expanded those efforts, and is now providing critically needed news and information to underserved communities, with a particular emphasis on Latinx, Indigenous and Spanish-speaking border communities. Now the Cronkite School is expanding this initiative to engage Spanish-speaking audiences more deeply. The RWJF Health Communications Initiative will leverage the tools and practices of digital marketing and strategic communications to provide critical health information to Spanish-speaking parents of young children. In particular, this initiative aims to provide meaningful health information to members of local communities, identify and address misinformation about health-related issues and address health disparities. The students participating in this program will develop the skills and confidence to engage deeply with Spanish-language audiences and optimize campaigns to improve community health.

About the Cronkite Strategic Communications Agency

The heart of the Cronkite School’s teaching hospital model is its professional programs -- more than a dozen immersive work immersions where students get hands-on experience in mass communication under the leadership of professional faculty.

The Cronkite Strategic Communications Agency is a newly formed capstone program, which combines the school’s award-winning Public Relations and Digital Audiences Labs into one robust strategic communications agency.
