Job Description:

One-Year Visiting Assistant Professor of Computer Science. The Mathematics and Computer Science Department at Rhodes College invites applications for a one-year visiting assistant professor beginning in August 2022. Rhodes College believes that diversity and inclusion are critical to our success as an institution, and we seek to recruit, develop, and retain the most talented people from a diverse candidate pool. Furthermore, Rhodes College is committed to supporting the work-life balance of its faculty. The successful candidate must demonstrate a firm commitment to teaching at a liberal arts college.

The teaching responsibility is six courses a year which could include any courses in the computer science curriculum that seem like a good fit for the candidate with the opportunity to add upper-level courses in the candidate's area of specialization to our curriculum. Candidates must have completed all requirements for a Masters or Ph.D. in Computer Science or a related field by August 2022.

Computer Science at Rhodes College is thriving and has grown rapidly in recent years. Faculty have unique opportunities to connect their scholarly activity with a growing community of passionate computer science students as well as existing and emerging interdisciplinary programs. Rhodes has a vibrant culture of undergraduate research, and opportunities for collaboration are numerous. St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, the University of Tennessee Health Science Center, FedEx, International Paper, ServiceMaster, Medtronic, AutoZone, CodeCrew, and the University of Memphis are all close by and have existing relationships with Rhodes. In 2017, Computer Science moved into a newly renovated building that includes three computer labs, traditional classrooms, a hardware lab, student research space, and faculty offices.
