The Chief of Staff reports directly to the Chancellor of UNC
Asheville and serves as support staff to the Chancellor's Senior
Staff. The Chief of Staff directs the work of the Office of the
Chancellor and coordinates and supports the meetings of the Board
of Trustees, serves as the liaison between the University of North
Carolina System Office and the Chancellor, serves as the point of
contact for the various constituent groups served by the
university, and provides coordination and leadership on
administrative University matters. In collaboration with other
members of the Chancellor's Senior Staff, the Chief of Staff is
responsible for planning, organizing, and guiding the initiatives
and activities of the Chancellor as they relate to the internal
operations and the external relationships of the University
including strategic and financial matters.
The Chief of Staff is responsible for researching and providing appropriate and timely information to the Chancellor to facilitate efficient and effective decision-making, overseeing the implementation of inter-divisional initiatives, ensuring that issues have been vetted and that information has been adequately developed for the Chancellor to make decisions, and working closely with the Chancellor to establish priorities for the Chancellor's time and attention. The Chief of Staff works in close collaboration with the Chancellor's Executive Assistant on scheduling events, briefing Trustees, faculty and staff matters and coordinates Senior Staff meeting agendas.
