Position Summary:
The Assistant Controller is responsible for most federal compliance reporting, certain reconciliations, assisting with year-end close and annual audit, supervising the Student Accounts and Cashier employees, and performing various other accounting functions.

JOB DESCRIPTION
- Works with accounting firm to complete the annual 990 and 990T
tax forms
- Prepares and issues all 1098-T tax forms each
winter.
- Works with controller to prepare for annual financial statement
audit
- Prepares various annual compliance filings
- Supervises Student Accounts & Cashier employees
- Manages PCI compliance for all merchant services accounts at
the university
- Reconciles all bank accounts
- Manages unclaimed property processes
- Performs reconciliations and journal entries for month-end
close and year-end close
- Imports gift files to the general ledger and reconciles the
general ledger to Raiser's Edge
- Manages and reconciles Student Loan program
- Performs all accounting functions for Willamette Angel
Fund
- Performs other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in accounting or related
field.
- Three years' experience in position dealing with financial,
budgetary, and accounting procedures.
- Strong proficiency with administrative/financial systems,
Microsoft Excel, Adobe Acrobat, and other productivity
tools.
- Strong written and oral communication, interpersonal and
customer service skills.
- Strong organizational, analytical and problem-solving
skills.
- Ability to thrive in a paperless office environment.
- Ability to meet deadlines and balance competing
priorities.
- Capacity to work independently and as a member of a
team.
- Strong attention to detail
- Fluency in technology with desire to seek out ways to use
technology more effectively in performance of job
duties.
- Ability to exert leadership in the implementation of new
systems and improved business processes.
- Ability to work independently as well as to establish and
maintain harmonious relations with staff, faculty, students, and
parents.
Preferred Qualifications
- CPA license
- Five or more years of additional experience
- Experience in a supervisory or management role
- Experience working in public accounting or higher
education
