Job Summary
The Development Officer I, under general supervision, creates plans and administers programs and activities to solicit gifts from donors to include personal solicitations, telemarketing and mail. Works closely with the Director, Board leaders, and other staff to prepare and coordinate the annual development program to meet the financial goals of the organization.
Essential duties and responsibilities
- Solicits prospects for gifts and sponsorships from annual
giving societies.
- Assist with alumni engagement process to include attending
events off campus.
- Prepares annual work plans, procedures, and
policies.
- Maintains positive relationships and provides stewardship for
gifts.
- Plans and implements multiple direct mail and email appeals on
a periodic basis.
- Develops and maintains an online giving program and social
network initiative.
- Works with the Director and various campus constituencies to
assist with campus fundraising.
- Provides written information and reports as
requested.

Additional Responsibilities
- Develop and implement multi-faceted strategy of marketing,
communications, and volunteer engagement, through student
interactions and social media, that will educate TAMIU students on
the importance of philanthropic support.
- Develop and implement fundraising strategies for TAMIU students
including but not limited to the Class Giving Campaign.
- Identify, recruit, motivate, and train students for the Student
Philanthropy Council and the Student Philanthropy
Ambassadors.
- Update website and other fundraising platform content and
design as needed.
- Oversee internal events which build alumni loyalty (i.e. Ring
Ceremony and Celebration of Life Ceremony).
Minimum Requirements
- Education - Bachelor's degree in applicable field.
- Experience - No prior experience required.
Preferred Education and Experience
- Two or more years' experience or involvement in volunteer
management, fundraising, marketing, public relations, outreach,
and/or student organizations.
- Knowledge of college/university setting.
- Knowledge of TAMIU's vision, goals, objectives, achievements,
and infrastructure.
Knowledge and Abilities
Knowledge of:
- Database and spreadsheet applications.
Ability to:
- Multitask and work cooperatively with others.
- Work in an environment of constant demands and frequent
interruptions.
- Maintain confidentiality at all times.
Preferred Knowledge and Abilities
- Ability to communicate effectively orally and in
writing.
- Possess high energy, positive, and professional
demeanor.
- Possess excellent customer service skills, sound ethical
judgement, and integrity.
