Scope of Job:
To manage the daily operations and provide maintenance oversight of medium to large sized facility and associated satellite locations. Responsible for leading assigned staff and performing asset oversight in compliance with university and facility policies and procedures.

Description of Duties:
  • Leads the daily operations of the assigned facility, including opening and closing procedures.
  • Assists in budget projection and implementation.
  • Hires, trains, schedules and supervises assigned staff.
  • Routinely inspects facilities and University assets for damage and maintenance needs; maintains communication with Campus Facilities department and external service providers.
  • Develops, schedules and oversees maintenance routine, and maintains detailed preventive maintenance records.
  • Monitors and supports facilities reservations including day-of event coordination.
  • Takes care of customer service duties during evenings and weekends.
  • May coordinate set-up and maintenance for special events.
  • Develops, oversees and maintains records for replacement cycle for facility equipment, furniture, and fixtures.
  • Makes recommendations for facility enhancements and long-term capital planning to improve and increase services to students.
  • Directs the priorities and needs of equipment and furniture purchases.
  • Manages daily operations of the Game Rooms including staffing, equipment purchasing and repairs.
  • Based on area of assignment, may operate audio visual equipment when necessary for events, including operating lighting, sound, video, and computers.
  • Proposes and develops building use policies, staff training manuals and guidelines to ensure the safe and efficient use of the facilities and equipment.
  • Develops reporting on visitor count records and utilizes data to update recommendations regarding facility hours and staffing. May oversees cash handling procedures.
  • Manages and maintains building safety and security; reports security problems to appropriate authority; may coordinate risk management procedures for facility.
  • Ensures that facility policies and procedures are adhered to.
  • Interprets administration policies and makes recommendations for further advancement of the facility to the Director.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.


Supervision Received:
General supervision from assigned supervisor.

Supervision Given:
Direct supervision of assigned part-time staff and student workers.

Required Education:
Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited University.

Licenses/Certifications:
As condition of employment this position requires the applicant to be authorized to operate a University-Owned Vehicle for Official University Business. Per University of Texas System Policy 157, applicants will be subject to a motor vehicle record check for their most recent thirty-six (36) month history. Out of State Drivers are required to submit a 36-month history MVR from their prior State of residence(s).

Required Experience:
  • Two (2) years of experience in building / facilities management or work experience related to the operation of the assigned facility, or
  • Work experience can be substituted for education on a one-on-one basis.

Equipment:
Standard office equipment including personal computer, fax, telephone, printer, plotters, scanners and copiers. Use of Microsoft Office Suite. Operation of a cash register.

Working Conditions:
Needs to be able to successfully perform all required duties. Usual office building conditions. Some exposure to inclement weather when moving between buildings.

Other:
Frequent need to work weekends and/or evenings. May require lifting or carrying of equipment other objects weighing up to 20 lbs. Good communication skills. Strong customer service skills. Ability to manage crisis situations.
