Title: Vice President for Research, Assessment and Special Initiatives

Position Summary: The overall purpose of this position is to provide leadership and oversight of research, assessment, and special initiatives of the College. The position directs a college-wide institutional effectiveness program that includes strategic planning, outcomes assessment, research information to support data informed decision making and planning by the President and Cabinet, and compliance with accreditation requirements. Provides support for program and college accreditation efforts and is the college liaison with the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC). Additionally, this position oversees grants administration a variety of special initiatives.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Responsible for working with various constituencies such as administration, faculty, staff, students, alumni, the Tennessee Board of Regents, the Tennessee Higher Education Commission to measure institutional effectiveness and other information as requested.

Oversees the collection and distribution of information for institutional planning. Monitors the college's compliance with criteria established by appropriate state, regional, and/or national accreditation and licensing organizations.

Provides leadership in academic and educational support units with annual planning, assessment and evaluation/program reviews to ensure the College fulfills its vision, goals, and mission under the governance of the Tennessee Board of Regents.

Maintains up-to-date instruments, software and integrity measures necessary to collect, manage, and report college data.

Serves in leadership role to ensure college remains in compliance with all SACSCOC accreditation standards.

Oversight responsibility for the Quality Assurance Report.

Prepares annual updated edition of the Institutional Effectiveness Handbook, maintains annual master planning calendar ensuring that unit plans are on schedule. Works with faculty and administrative personnel with the development of student and program learning outcomes and coordinates the development and implementation of appropriate assessment measures. Conducts training sessions for department heads and provides leadership with the development of assessment and benchmark measures.

Chairs the Strategic Planning Committee (Executive Council), maintains the five-year strategic plan, and coordinates the strategic planning calendar and operational plan. Responsible for the development of strategic plan and assessment and benchmark measures.

Coordinates/produces data for internal research, assessment, and evaluation projects. Oversees the production of reports such as annual accomplishments and institutional effectiveness plans.

Researches and identifies “best diversity practices” to help guide the college in implementing strategies and programs that promote diversity.

Ensures that the campus is meeting its diversity and inclusion commitments and activities designed through the strategic planning and resource allocation process.

Provides direction to the campus community and educational programming on equity and diversity-related topics to cultivate a culture of belonging, mutual respect, acceptance, and understanding to enhance the College's commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.

Keeps abreast of all current issues being managed by the President to appropriately implement and communicate as directed by the President.

Advises the President concerning underrepresented population and other minority issues and concerns. Maintains the reporting phase of the physical facilities inventory. Assists in Internal Assessment procedures, preparation/analysis of Appropriation Request, and the preparing/submission of appropriate external surveys.

Manages the grant resource discovery, eligibility analysis, strategic need compatibility, grant application preparation and institutional review process, and management of award implementation and compliance requirements for government and public grants and for private and external foundation grants.

Writes grant proposals and provides assistance to College employees seeking external grant funding by serving as the clearing house for all grant proposals.

Actively participates as a member of the President's Cabinet.

Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications: Master's degree. A minimum of three (3) years of experience in business, finance, education, mathematics/analytical science, assessment field or a related area. A minimum of three (3) years of supervisory experience.

Preferred Qualifications: A minimum of five (5) years at a senior administrative level in an educational institution.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Work Characteristics: Excellent computer and analytic skills with knowledge of outcome measures and assessments, research design methodologies, strategic plan development, and institutional effectiveness processes. Demonstrated commitment to inclusive excellence. Ability to manage sensitive information with the highest degree of confidentiality; exceptional customer services skills; and possess the ability to work collaboratively with colleagues, excellent management and team building skills, and top-notch organizational skills. Must be a willing advocate of the mission of the college. Must have strong leadership, human relations, and communications skills.

Pay Rate: 74,250.00 - 96,520.00 annual salary depending on experience
