JOB DESCRIPTION

The University of Indianapolis is seeking an Associate Adjunct in Psychology to teach undergraduate courses in the Fall of 2022. Candidates must be able to teach classes in person/on campus, but there may be opportunities to teach hybrid and online classes as well. Preference will be given to candidates who have experience or qualifications to teach Research Methods, Statistics, and Writing and Professional Development in Psychology at the undergraduate level. Additionally, there may be opportunities to teach content-based courses in the candidate’s area of expertise (e.g., social, cognitive, developmental, biological, or clinical) and in our Master of Science (MS) in Psychology program.



This part-time faculty position will report to the Director of Psychological Sciences. They will support the fulfillment of the University’s mission, purpose, and goals, focusing primarily on facilitating student learning associated with the prescribed course and program learning outcomes. The candidate hired for this position will be effective in creating an educational environment that fosters innovation, responsiveness, inclusiveness, and accountability. They will actively and substantively participate in the assessment of student learning activities to maximize the potential for students to learn what is necessary to meet prescribed student learning outcomes for each class.

As an Associate Adjunct, you will be responsible for teaching up to 21 credit hours a year. This is a one-year position with the possibility of being renewed annually.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Deliver courses with clear outcomes, meaningful assignments, and transparent, timely assessment. Courses will be offered in traditional, hybrid, and/or online formats
  • Model effective teaching and professionalism
  • Manage inclusive, responsive learning environments
  • Attend and participate collaboratively in department and faculty meetings
  • Be flexible and responsive in teaching and conduct office hours weekly, even if through electronic means, posted in the course for students
  • Support student success and retention
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Masters degree in Psychology or related field required. Doctoral degree preferred
  • Prior college teaching experience is required
  • Prior experience with online education is preferred
  • Prior experience working with online learning management systems to further engage the student learning process
  • A documented background relative to specific subjects being taught
