Job Description:

The person in this position will be responsible for the daily operations of the Personal and Professional Development office. The individual will work with students, career coaches, administrators, faculty, and other staff in delivery of the co-curriculum. This will include working collaboratively with the Assistant Dean for Curricular Affairs, Assistant Dean for Student Affairs, and the Director for Personal and Professional Development to assure all co-curricular activities are accomplished in a timely and quality manner.

Academic Coordination

Responsible for assisting the course leader/ Director, Personal and Professional Development in the delivery of the Personal and Professional Development course sequence. Will work in collaboration with faculty by assuming most administrative tasks related to a course. This individual will be responsible for communications with students about needs that do not require pharmacist expertise (eg, class time, missing assignments, availability of grades, course policies). The individual will manage the online learning management system (Canvas) for the course on a daily basis including monitoring the discussion board and managing the grade book. Refer students to the Office of Student Affairs when needs identified through assignment review. Will also follow policies and procedures that ensure quality learning experiences. Also revises Student Manuals for the Co-Curriculum with minimal assistance of the Director, Personal and Professional Development. Coordinates IPE elements of the curriculum (PFF, IPLH, etc.) as well as tracks and coordinates students on revised plan. Attend intra-departmental student status meetings.

Career Coach Program

Responsible for the process used to match career coaches with their students. Accountable for daily management of the career coach program and identifying issues that require intervention, and partnering with the Director, Personal and Professional Development to develop an action plan for problem resolution. Collaborates with the Director in preparing assessment reports that summarize program outcomes and performance of individual students. Once a career coach is hired, will provide orientation, advising, and oversight of career coaches. Will routinely debrief the Director, Personal and Professional Development about program effectiveness and needs. Also responsible for developing and coordinating the orientation for students. Mitigates and mediates student/coach conflicts or concerns. Monitors Career Coach performance through quality control efforts and rematches students as necessary.

Student Involvement

Provides support to the college of pharmacy student organizations. Responsibilities include advising and/or coordinating leadership from numerous organizations to provide guidance on event development that meet co-curricular requirements, serve as a liaison for student leaders to college and university resources,. Creates student teams each semester under the team based learning initiative. Monitors student team performance through peer evaluations. Schedules and mediates team meetings and individual meetings when issues or challenges arise.

Data Management

Develops, implements, and maintains a system for tracking student achievement of the co-curriculum requirements. Generates reports documenting student performance and professionalism issues. Utilizes Salesforce and CORE to manage data requirements. Ensure databases are current with student team and cohort assignment.

Other duties related to curricular affairs, student affairs, and the co-curriculum may be assigned.

Expected Salary:

$45,000 - $50,000; Commensurate with education and experience

Minimum Requirements:

Bachelor's degree and two years of relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Frequent contact with internal and external customers to include faculty, staff, and students, other departments, vendors, and other Universities.
  • Visionary. Ability to get results, assess a situation clearly, and make tough decisions. Confident in his/her ability to manage the program area of responsibility.
