The University of Maryland, Baltimore (UMB) Department of
Change Management and Advisory Services (CMAS) is seeking
a Business & Quality Improvement
Analyst to support the department with efforts
to increase employee adoption and usage of newly implemented
systems. Responsibilities will include coordinating expanded
communications using multiple channels and formats, assessment and
advising regarding best business processes, and generally focusing
on the people side of change. The Business & Quality
Improvement Analyst position is an integral part of the CMAS team
and will be expected to carry out or assist with the following or
similar duties in an independent manner and with minimal
supervision.

- Coordinate and provide support on matters related to the assessment and communication of business and quality improvement functions. Ensure processes adhere to policies, procedures, and best practice standards. Communicate time sensitive information using various methods, as appropriate.
- Coordinate and assist with assembling teams to achieve improved quality and business process projects and initiatives. Identify resources needed, persons to be involved and the logistics of accomplishing the project.
- Responsible for ensuring that goals are met based off of the action plans. Conduct studies, workflows, surveys, and analyze data to evaluate performance in quality improvement. Perform analyses to determine trends in the data or workflow compared to industry standards and recognized benchmarks.
- Create workflows for current processes. Assist management in development of work plans.
- Assess business process impact of changes as a result of change and business improvement roll out, advise end users accordingly, and work in cooperation with training team to ensure updated business processes are absorbed into existing training sessions or new sessions.
- Participate in the coordination of communication events (e.g., town halls, workshops) to help users stay connected with change and improvement initiatives and accept changes.
- Participate in providing users with a process for bringing their concerns/needs/requests regarding system abilities and business processes forward for consideration.
- Assist with Management Advisory Services duties as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Knowledge of effective communication methods, change management methodologies, financial principles and systems relevant to University System of Maryland (USM) institutions.
- Strong analytical and project management skills and the ability to work under pressure of strict periodic deadlines managing multiple projects. High degree of creativity in exploring and finding solutions.
- Ability to assess business processes and the impact of changes as a result of new system functionality and to use sound judgment to effectively advise users on how to absorb and accept the changes, within the scope of the position.
- Excellent organization, time management, and written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to prioritize ongoing and new projects, as well as conduct research and gather information.
- High level of discretion for confidential information; ability to appropriately handle critical information and sensitive situations.
- Ability to effectively represent department and interact with all levels of staff and external contacts.
- Ability to communicate and interact with, as well as support, effective partnerships with peers and subordinates.
- Ability to maintain a cooperative, service-oriented attitude and professional demeanor.
