Job Description:

POSITION TITLE: Aquatics Coordinator

REPORTS TO: Director, Recreation & Wellness

PRIMARY FUNCTION: Assist the Director of Recreation & Wellness with the Day-to-Day operations of Fairfield University’s Aquatics facility.

AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY:

Assist the Director of Recreation & Wellness with the day to day operations and management of the universities aquatics facility. Recruit, hire, train and manage the facilities lifeguard staff. Recruit, hire, train and manage the facilities aquatics (meet operations) staff. Responsible for the opening and closing of the pool. Assist in developing and/or maintaining all procedural manuals related to the function and operation of the pool. Responsible for daily chemical readings and maintenance logs. Assist the Director of Recreation & Wellness with the scheduling of the pool (Internal groups, External groups and Facility Rentals). Works collaboratively with the universities facilities managers (CUF), outside contractors, and preferred vendors to maintain all pool equipment, mechanical components, and monitor chemical levels. Responsible for ensuring that all competition-related equipment; Diving Boards, Timing Pads/System, Race Flags, Lane Lines, Blocks etc. are maintained.

Requirements:

*Current lifeguard certification required

*Certified Pool Operator certification required (Must obtain within 6 months)

*Certified American Red Cross Lifeguard Instructor (Must obtain within 6 months)

*CPR First Aid/AED certification required

*Early morning, night and weekend hours may be required.

*Travel required.

EDUCATION:
  • Essential: BS or BA from accredited institution of higher education in a recreation related field.

  • Desirable: MS of MA from accredited institution of higher education in a recreation related field.

EXPERIENCE:
  • Essential: 2-3 years of experience working in an aquatics environment

  • Preferred: Experience working in a higher ed. setting.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES:

Excellent verbal and written communications skills.

Highly organized with emphasis on aquatic facility management, scheduling, coordinating and administering aquatics programs within a higher education setting.

Knowledge of aquatics industry best practices and trends.

Understanding of Team Manager and Meet Manager for swim meets.

Knowledge of Microsoft word, excel, scheduling software and website management preferred.

This position is based at Fairfield University’s Fairfield, CT campus and is not eligible for immigration assistance.
