WORKPLACE EQUITY, DIVERSITY, AND INCLUSION OUTREACH SPECIALIST

Salary:

Minimum $42,600 ANNUAL (12 months)
Depending on Qualifications
The expected salary for this position is $55,000 for highly experienced candidates. Actual pay will depend on experience and qualifications.

Job Summary:

The Workplace Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion Outreach Specialist is part of the Office of Affirmative Action Planning and Programming (OAAPP) within the Division of Diversity, Equity & Educational Achievement (DDEEA). OAAPP oversees the affirmative action program of UW Madison with stakeholders. The office also serves as a resource hub for the university community in workplace equity, diversity, and inclusion (EDI) broadly defined. The Workplace Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion Outreach Specialist is responsible for engaging the UW Madison community through building and leading an active, robust, and sustainable workplace EDI outreach program. The successful candidate will assist with planning outreach program activities and strengthening partnerships with stakeholders. Key stakeholders include the HR community (both the central Office of Human Resources and local school/college/division HR professionals), the Office of Compliance, Academic Planning and Institutional Research (APIR), Employee Disability Resources (EDR), supervisors and managers of schools, colleges, and divisions, and other units within the DDEEA.

Responsibilities:

Delivers and assists with planning outreach program activities, strengthens partnerships, ensures adherence to policy, and assists with program administration to promote stable and productive relationships between the university and local community. Strives to expand and ensure access to programs, facilities, and educational services to diverse audiences. May assist with tracking and managing the outreach program budget.
  • 30% Identifies, promotes, and maintains external partnerships to support the outreach program
  • 10% Schedules and secures resources and communicates logistics in support of an outreach program
  • 25% Delivers outreach program content and materials to community members
  • 10% Researches, develops, and facilitates outreach program content and materials
  • 10% Develops and evaluates curriculum and programs and provides recommendations for improvement
  • 5% Represents UW Madison in external meetings (e.g., UW System, Big 10, City of Madison); Serves on shared governance and other committees
  • 10% Supports and participates in workgroups and communities of practice in workforce diversity, equity, and inclusion and campus climate

Qualifications:

Required:
- Strong commitment to and professional, personal, or lived experience related to equity, diversity, inclusion, and accessibility in the workplace
- Ability to build and sustain partnerships with units with various priorities
- Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills
- Ability to present data analytics to a broad audience

Preferred:
- One or more years of experience with outreach and engagement in higher education institutions or other complex organizations
- Experience facilitating conversations with individuals and/or groups with diverse perspectives and experiences
- Knowledge of federal affirmative action laws and regulations, including Executive Order 11246, Section 503 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, and Vietnam Era Veterans Readjustment Assistance Act of 1974
- Understanding of Affirmative Action Plan
