Assistant Strength & Conditioning Coach

Purpose of Job

To assist the Head Strength & Conditioning/Equipment Manager by providing guidance, and training in the area of strength and conditioning along with the equipment for all student-athletes and sports teams.

Scope of Responsibilities

To assist the Head Strength & Conditioning/Equipment Manager with rehabilitation of injured athletes, along with planning and coordinating the operations of equipment for effective maintenance and repair programs, equipment safety programs and equipment use on job sites.

Essential Job Functions

• Assist with administering strength training programs unique to assigned sport(s) and to each individual student-athlete, using discretion and independent judgment
• Assist with developing and determining realistic goals, rules, expectations, and motivations for assigned teams and each individual student-athlete, using discretion and independent judgment
• Interact with team trainers and medical staff in designing, developing, and implementing rehabilitation programs for injured student-athletes
• Prepare periodic evaluationsand progress reports regarding the progress, conditioning, and training of the student-athletes
• Monitor appearance, maintenance, and organization of equipment in training facilities;
• Assist in scheduling and organizing daily use of the Facility;
• Assist in the evaluation and recommendation in the procurement and maintenance of all equipment;
• Other duties as assigned by the Head Strength and Coditioning Coach/Equipment Manager

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree required. Minimum of two (2) years of successful collegiate strength and conditioning experience (preferably within Division I) is required. Candidate will be required to maintain current certification through a nationally accredited strength and conditioning certification program (National Strength Coaches Association and Collegiate Strength and Coditioning Coaches Association are both accredited.) in accordance with NCAA requirements.

Licensing and Certifications

Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist ( CSCS ) – Preferred

Knowledge Skills and Abilities

• Knowledge of medical terminology
• Knowledge of strength and conditioning equipment
• Interpersonal/human relations skills
• Supervisory skills
• Ability to maintain confidentiality
• Knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations

Physical Requirements

Work in noisy (above 85 decibels) areas
