Position Summary:
Florida Atlantic University is seeking an Assistant Vice President for Principal Gifts, Boca Raton, FL.
Summary of responsibilities include:
- Oversee all functions of the Principal Gift operation and Foundation Relations.
- Build out team which will eventually comprise 3 to 5 members.
- Coordinate strategic engagement, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship strategies for assigned and qualified principal gift prospects.
- Coordinate University strategies with unassigned principal gift prospects, including determining the interest and affiliation with the University.
- Work with university leadership to facilitate forward motion with $5M+ transformational gifts.
- Build relationships with fellow development officers, Deans, Directors, etc.
- Oversee principal gift proposals and gift agreements.
- Oversee Foundation Relations office.
- Personally manage a principal gift portfolio.
Minimum Qualifications:
Master's degree from an accredited institution in an appropriate area of specialization and seven years of appropriate experience; or a bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in an appropriate area of specialization and nine years of appropriate experience required.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office including Outlook, Excel,
Word, and PowerPoint required.
Experience with CRM databases required. Raiser's Edge
preferred.
Preferred Skills and Experience:
Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues across campus,
including with development colleagues, deans, senior
administrators, volunteers, and support staff.
Broad knowledge of fundraising principles and related experience
working with high-level administration, volunteers, and
donors.
Experience raising seven-figure and eight-figure gifts.
Experience building relationships with high-level volunteers,
donors, and administrators.
Strong leadership, customer service and management skills including
experience creating a team environment and motivating team members;
establishing and administering clear performance goals, objectives
and metrics for assessment; serving as a resource in developing
prospect strategies and offering new approaches and techniques; and
creating plans for professional development pathways for staff to
enhance skills and support retention.
Willingness to travel, work nights and weekends.
Proven ability to collaborate and drive complex, multi-unit
gifts.
Ability to exercise a high degree of independence in performing job
duties.
Experience in higher education fundraising.
