Web Developer

Daemen University is searching for a Web Developer to join our team. Reporting to the Associate Vice President for Information Management, the Web Developer works to support web applications within the university's intranet portal and external website, and integrations with 3rd party systems. This position will collaborate with a talented team in designing and developing new web applications. This position will require close communication and coordination with the Executive Director of Web Communications.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Use PHP, MySQL, Javascript, HTML5, CSS3, Vue.js, and REST APIs to create and maintain web systems on the MyDaemen web server.
  • Organize the rollout and promote the adoption of new technical solution initiatives created or endorsed by Information Technology.
  • Develop systems integrations using Python and Apache Airflow.
  • Answer calls, chats, emails and texts from users across the university with questions, problems, suggestions, and ideas related to web development.
  • Regularly research and explore web related technologies.
  • Assist with the maintenance of the Office of Information Technology website content and organization.
  • Provide professional technical training workshops periodically.
  • Assist Directors of IT and other office employees with duties and projects as necessary for the efficient operation of the office and the university.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Possess a bachelor degree, preferably with a technical major, such as computer science, computer information systems, mathematics or related.
  • Experience with PHP, MySQL, Javascript, HTML5, REST APIs, or other web development technologies.
  • General Programming Skills; General understanding of relational databases; Ability to analyze information, problem solve, debug, document, and test code.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience with managing web content via content management systems, such as Google Sites, Drupal, or Wordpress.
  • Experience with Linux based operating systems.
  • Prior higher education experience.
  • Experience with Python or Apache Airflow.
  • Experience with Single Sign On technologies, such as SAML2.



BENEFITS/STATUS: This is a full-time, salary, exempt, 12 month. Position is administration/salary and includes full University benefits and professional development opportunities.

Benefits are available the first of the month following the full-time employee's date of hire and include health, dental, vision insurance, and fully paid life insurance. In addition, we offer fully paid long term disability insurance after 3 months of employment. Eligibility for the 403b retirement plan is available to full-time employees upon hire and an 8% employer match after one year of service. Tuition waiver benefits are also available for full-time employees and their qualified dependents.

General Physical Requirements:

Light Work: Exerting up to 25 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects; desk job with majority of sedentary work sitting roughly 50% or greater of the workday.

Working Conditions:

Climate controlled office setting, but some activities/ duties can occur both inside and outside the office setting.

Post-Hire Trainings:

Various trainings assigned upon hire and annually thereafter by the Office of Employee Engagement.
