QUALIFICATION

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s in Athletic Training Required.
  • Valid Texas Athletic Training License
  • Familiarity with NAIA governing rules and a strong commitment to the Student-Athlete concept.
  • Current certification as an Athletic Trainer, issued by the National Board of Certification (BOC)
  • CPR Healthcare/BLS Certification
  • One (1) years’ experience in a traditional setting
  • Possesses a driver’s license and the ability to travel.
  • Able to successfully pass a criminal background check.
  • Experience with intercollegiate preferred.
  • Good communication, administrative, time management and interpersonal skills
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, specifically, Word and Excel
  • Familiarity with electronic medical record keeping
  • Working knowledge of HIPAA requirement.

RESPONSIBILITIES

 

  • Knowledge of information and techniques needed to rehabilitate ailments and to provide career guidance including alternative treatments, rehabilitation equipment and its proper use, and methods to evaluate treatment effects
  • Athletic Training room coverage and evaluation of students/athletes
  • Athletic Event coverage
  • Prepares, sets-up cleans and maintains athletic training area
  • Maintains inventory and assists with ordering of supplies as needed
  • Documents patients’ progress and response to treatments in the medical record
  • Requires the physical abilities to observe, listen, and communicate effectively with athlete, coach, and a variety of other professional/individuals
  • Ability to lift, lower, push, pull, carry, squat, stoop, sit, stand, walk, for emergency care, evaluation and treatment of the athlete’s condition (may on occasion require use of force in order to control up to the weight of the patient) for evaluation of strength, transfers, balance (loss of), and functional/sports status
  • Requires ability to stand and walk throughout an 8-hour shift
  • Clinic note must be well documented and if applicable use scribe statement
  • Serve as a liaison between the department, coaches, parents, and student-athletes
  • Provide emergency services for student athlete injuries sustained during physical education classes, team practices and athletic events
  • Apply therapeutic and protective bandaging, wrapping, strapping and padding to athletes
  • Arrange screening, referral and transportation of injured athletes to physician or hospital as necessary
  • Assist in the selection of athletic equipment, conditioning/weight room equipment and supplies
  • Assist in prevention strategies, evaluation, treatment and rehabilitation for players’ medical problems
  • Performs administrative duties, budget, medical record documentation, medical resources management and maintenance, and other duties as assigned
  • Maintain professional development and attend training to stay current and abreast of current trends, information and practices
  • Maintain a current license and status as a certified Athletic Trainer
  • This position will require regular work hours, evening, weekend, and holiday times
