Job Description:

The Academic Program Specialist II functions as the Academic Coordinator for the program by working with the faculty and instructional design team for smooth course delivery by providing logistic support, general student guidance, and oversight of course learning and assessment activities from a general educator’s perspective. Acts as a primary liaison between faculty and students. Communicates effectively with a broad range of people including College administrators, faculty, students, and other staff. Must collaboratively participate as a team member and contribute to accomplishing the team responsibilities. Requires strong organizational skills and manage multiple projects/assignments and deadlines. Must also demonstrate initiative when new situations or problems are encountered, identify when input is needed from others, and solve these problems with appropriate oversight.

Duties include:
  • Coordinate delivery of multiple courses. Assist the Curriculum Coordinator with submitting required textbook information and verifying the final semester calendar. Assist instructional designers to get course activities ready on the e-Learning system. Monitor the discussion board. Maintain the gradebook and collaborate with course leaders and instructional designer in monitoring student performance. Serve as first contact to students about general course logistics. Other duties related to supporting course delivery.
  • Assist with Exam and Room Needs. Enter all quizzes and exams into ExamSoft and/or Canvas. Coordinate administration of examinations. Transmit all teaching materials and exams to the distant campuses within the established timeframes. Request virtual classroom sites with required privileges for instructors, host etc. Other duties related to supporting classroom needs.
  • Special projects as assigned to support faculty and students academic progress.
  • Assist in compiling administrative reports and documentation, collecting or compiling data, and scheduling curriculum-related meetings.

Expected Salary:

$50,000-$56,000 commensurate with education and experience.

Minimum Requirements:

Bachelor's degree and three years of relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

A Bachelor’s degree that includes educational coursework such as curriculum or instructional design and two years of appropriate experience. Prior knowledge of University of Florida policies and procedures. Preferred experience includes use of learning management systems and experience with educational programs.

This position has the possibility of being filled as either a 10- or 12-month appointment. Please note that 10-month positions generally work August through May of each year.
