Title of Immediate Supervisor: Director of Financial Aid

Purpose of Position: To provide clerical support to the Financial Aid Department staff.

Status: Full time, thirty-five hours per week, twelve-month position, non-exempt (hourly) staff, requires some evening and weekend hours during busy time such as registration, open house and orientation. $15.00/hr

 

Tasks/Duties performed:

  • Answer and screen telephone calls and retrieve Voicemail messages
  • Schedule appointments for Financial Aid department staff
  • Greet all visitors
  • Open all mail, date stamp, and sort
  • Locate and retrieve financial aid files for counselors
  • Track incoming documents; photocopy or scan as necessary; log into computer
  • Proofread, mail and track financial aid award letters
  • Type all office correspondence and reports as needed
  • Track and order office supplies and all printed materials as needed
  • Update printed materials for next academic year
  • Sort FAFSA/ISIRS and open new files for returning students
  • Supervise work-study students
  • All other clerical duties as required for the efficient operation of the Financial Aid department as assigned by the Director

 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; Associates or Bachelors degree preferred.
  • Good oral and written communication skills
  • The ability to interact in a positive and professional manner with students, faculty, administrators, staff, and the public
  • The ability to handle tasks without close supervision
  • Good word processing (Microsoft Word, EXCEL) skills and familiarity with the Internet and technology systems
  • Reliability, efficiency, and maintenance of confidentiality are essential

 

Terms of Employment:

The position is non-exempt (hourly) for FLSA, full time, thirty-five hours per week. Benefits are available the first of the month following the full-time employee's date of hire and include health, dental, vision insurance, and fully paid life insurance. In addition, we offer fully paid long term disability insurance after 3 months of employment. Eligibility for the 403b retirement plan is available to full-time employees upon hire and an 8% employer match after one year of service. Tuition waiver benefits are also available for full-time employees and their qualified dependents.

Additional hours may be required for weekend events and other peak periods.

Standard Background Check Required.

 

General Physical Requirements:

Light Work: Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects; desk job with majority of sedentary work sitting roughly 50% or greater of the workday.

 

Working Conditions:

Climate controlled office setting, but some activities/ duties can occur both inside and outside the office setting.

 

Post-Hire Trainings:

Various trainings assigned upon hire and annually thereafter by the Office of Employee Engagement.
