Job Description:
Rhodes seeks an Assistant Director of Health Professions Advising. As the Assistant Director of Health Professions Advising, you will assist with the advising of pre-health students.
Job Requirements
- Bachelors required; Masters preferred.
- Requires 4 years of experience advising and mentoring college students.
- Experience advising and mentoring college students interested in health professions preferred.
- Must have excellent organizational, written, verbal, and presentation skills. Some evening and weekend program presentation required.
Job Responsibilities
- Serves as advisor to students preparing for a career in a health profession. Advising caseload to be determined by Director, and may include prospective students and alumni. Advising duties include meeting one on one, small and large group meetings, outreach, and follow-up.
- Serves as staff advisor for HPA student organizations, oversees ambassador program, and provides supervision for student workers.
- Oversees programming including, but not limited to, HPA Health Disparities Series, summer programs, and internships.
- Takes on special projects including data collection, assessment and evaluation; teaching HPA related courses; community engagement and outreach; and other projects as determined by Director.
Physical Demands
- General office environment that requires sitting on a constant basis. The candidate will perform computer work, keyboard use, and telecommunications on a frequent basis.
- Manual dexterity will be required to perform keyboard and writing activities on a frequent basis.
- V isual acuity is required on a frequent basis to read and review print and electronic documents.
- Reaching and pushing/pulling with a force of up to 10lbs will be performed on a rare basis. Mobility of the candidate will be sufficient to allow moving about the office and to and from the building on an occasional basis.
- The physical demands must be met to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
