Portland Community College’s Art, Humanities, Communication and Design (AHCD) Pathway is seeking a qualified candidate for the position of Instructional Administrative Assistant III (IAA III) based at the Sylvania Campus. The AHCD Pathway welcomes students from diverse backgrounds and abilities to study and develop their skills in preparation for a variety of careers and/or transfer to four-year institutions. The IAA III works collegewide with students, faculty, staff, and leadership to enhance the learning experience by ensuring classes, events, and facilities are well supported. Successful IAA IIIs have the ability to make sound decisions regarding whether they are able to provide appropriate support or seek assistance. They liaise with a variety of stakeholders to perform a full range of administrative support duties ( see IAA III duties and responsibilities in this job description ).

  • Facilitate group discussions, be action oriented and use feedback to address challenges within a large changing organization, while recognizing limitations, exercising personal care, and asking for help when necessary.
  • Work independently and collaboratively within a team on processes that will contribute to pathway and student success.
  • Demonstrate commitment to learning about cultural competency (PCC resources: Tools and Definitions , Office of Equity and Inclusion and supporting students, faculty, and staff and those from communities with historically marginalized identities, including, but not limited to: first generation students, students of color, queer and transgender students, and low-income students.
  • Take ownership and prioritize tasks based on deadlines, track requests from multiple people simultaneously and follow through to ensure tasks are completed with detail and accuracy.
  • Effectively communicate and coordinate with students, faculty, and staff with diverse academic, cultural and ethnic backgrounds verbally and in writing.
  • Experience with information systems including databases, web-based applications, spreadsheets, Microsoft Office, and Google platform.
  • Be a professional representative of the Pathway and College to students, staff and the community.
Minimum Qualifications

To be considered, your application must demonstrate these minimum qualifications. (Experience is calculated based on the start and end dates you provide multiplied by the number of hours per week worked).
  • High school diploma or equivalent and five years of administrative support experience or two years in a position equivalent to IAA II.
  • College or business school training may be substituted for up to two years of the administrative experience requirement. Other equivalent combinations of experience and training will be considered.
  • Knowledge of: Contemporary office practices, procedures and techniques; spelling, vocabulary, math and grammar skills; desktop computers and other assigned software and electronic resources including the Intranet and Internet, basic customer service standards and principles; other office resources and equipment including phones and telecommunications systems, fax machines, copy machines, TTY devices; the administrative requirements associated with delivering academic programs and services in an educational environment.
  • Ability to: Develop and maintain effective working relationships while also maintaining an appropriate level of confidentiality; maintain a reliable and dependable attendance record; provide effective and responsive service to department staff, faculty, students and the public; perform all assigned tasks efficiently and accurately; create and maintain accurate records; possess and demonstrate the required level of proficiency in desktop computers and other assigned software or electronic resources, including the Intranet and Internet, as assigned; learn and utilize Banner or other information systems and databases; create and maintain accurate and up-to-date records.
Position Grade 20 Starting Salary Expectations The first two steps of the range are: $48,172 to $49,614 per year. Higher salary placement may be available based on qualifications, experience and internal equity. Position Grade Salary Range $48172 to $77299 Annual Salary FTE 1 PCC Benefits

Additionally, PCC provides a tuition waiver for yourself, domestic partner, and dependent children under 24 years of age. Partial tuition reimbursement for yourself at other accredited institutions (full-time employees only).

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements Work is generally performed in an office environment with frequent work interruptions or changes in work flow. Occasional lifting, guiding, or carrying of light-weight materials or equipment may be required. Position involves sitting for extended periods of time while working at a computer terminal. Learned physical skill is required to perform keyboarding and/or ten-key functions. Background Check Required Yes
