A.T. Still University (ATSU) is seeking an exempt Director of Benefits on the Kirksville, Missouri campus. The position reports to the Assistant Vice President for Human Resources. The Director for Benefits is responsible for the administration and planning of the day-to-day operations of complex group benefits programs with regard to plan options, policy features, cost, enrollment, and other requirements. The individual ensures compliance with federal and state laws and works in partnership with University leadership to strategically plan, develop, promote, and coordinate all benefits as well as health management and wellness initiatives for employees. Key deliverables include: creating a culture of wellness, engaging a high percentage of the eligible population, improving health status, and driving health risk migration in order to impact health care costs. The position also serves as the health plan privacy officer for compliance with HIPAA and is the chair of the retirement plan oversight committee.

Major Job Duties
  • Research employee benefits plans and vendors to identify those that present the best value.
  • Design, recommend, and implement new benefits programs.
  • Examine possible plan designs and benefits cost changes.
  • Negotiate with vendors and administrators for best plans, options, and rates.
  • Serve as primary contact for plan vendors and third-party administrators.
  • Coordinate planning, design, implementation, delivery, and evaluation of comprehensive health promotion programs (including but not limited to health evaluations, awareness events and classes, and health communications).
  • Utilize skills in behavior change methods to encourage the adoption of lifestyle habits that are conducive to a higher quality of life, while emphasizing preventative care.
  • Document encounters and other programming to provide reports on participation, results, and feedback.
  • Leverage health plan, fitness facilities, wellness, and community resources.
  • Other duties and responsibilities as needed.
  • Creatively develop program and promotional material, instruct health education events, and lead wellness programs.
  • Oversee worker's compensation activities and lead post incident processes on each campus location.
  • Work with leadership to run special projects and initiatives (i.e., health education campaigns, wellness programs, etc.).
  • Communicate pro-actively and effectively with all level of participants, supervisors, and the leadership team.
  • Track and report performance measures including events delivered, participation, and outcomes.
  • Accommodate participants at numerous campus sites.
Skills/Requirements
  • Four year college degree in human resources or related field
  • CEBS or HR certification or related experience required
  • Strong team management skills
  • Ability to interpret and communicate data
  • Computer proficiency and technical aptitude with the ability to use Microsoft Office products
  • Energetic, outgoing, personable, professional, self-motivated, and independent
