BASIC FUNCTION:
The Office of Student Engagement (OSE) promotes student success and engagement by focusing on three areas: co-curricular learning, leadership and student development.
The Assistant Director for Programming will enhance the quality of campus life at Salve Regina University by creating co-curricular opportunities for students. The Assistant Director will also support the overall efforts of the Office of Student Engagement and the division of Student Affairs by creating a comprehensive calendar of events while collaborating with various departments on campus.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Programming Model:
- Design, implement, and evaluate a diverse schedule of a weekend and late-night programming in collaboration with various departments across campus and student clubs and organizations
- Effectively communicate with vendors, performers, agents, and on and off campus stakeholders
- Ensure that programs efforts attract a diverse student population
- Serve as chair of committees for Fall Festival Weekend, Spring Weekend, Senior Week, and other campus-based traditions
- Complete an annual assessment of the programming model and research best practices to support student engagement and development
- Assist Student Government Association (SGA) with all planning efforts for the Fall and Spring Involvement Fairs
- Promote student involvement in co-curricular activities and student knowledge surrounding the benefits of involvement
- Design and implement a student club and organization Fall and Spring leadership development training that supports new and returning student leaders
- Update and maintain the student leader and advisor manuals
- Support student clubs and organizations in the achievement of their missions
- Oversee student organization event planning: advising, safety/liability issues, contract negotiation/execution, budgets, and evaluation
- Provide leadership development and event training for student leaders
- Approve student expenditures, tracks expenses, and effectively manage assigned budgets
- Serve as the primary advisor for the Campus Activities Board (CAB)
- Advise Campus Activities Board committee directors, activities of their respective committees, and attend all leadership meetings of the organization
- Serve as our main point of contact for our Seahawk Connection (A Campus Labs/Anthology product) engagement platform
- Monitor and maintain all event entry into Seahawk Connection
- Provide education and training for student leaders, advisors, and staff members on Seahawk Connection
- Coordinate a social media calendar for all events hosted by OSE and other campus partners with the assistance of the OSE Social Media Manager
- Assist in the daily operations the Office of Student Engagement and Gerety Hall
- Assist with the hiring, training, supervision, and evaluation of the Student Engagement student staff
- Prepare and monitor student activities and programming budgets, monitor expenditures, process purchase orders and invoices
- Maintain inventory and usage of programming supplies and equipment
- Manage all R25live room bookings and catering needs for OSE events and clubs & organizations
- Assist with the execution and participation in university-wide yield programs and events, including open houses, Connection Day, and other traditional programs
- Work major events for the Office of Student Engagement, including Fall/Spring concerts, Fall Festival Weekend, Spring Weekend, Orientation, and Senior Week
- Assist in office-wide assessments efforts of student engagement learning outcomes
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Student Engagement
Valid driver's license required.
ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS:
The incumbent is not subject to adverse environmental conditions.
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree in student personnel, higher education administration, counseling or a similar field with progressively responsible leadership experience in Student Affairs preferred. Working knowledge of student development theory and its application in the workplace. Ability to plan, implement and evaluate student activity programs. Ability to apply budgetary and fiscal planning techniques within financial constraints. Strong record of student advocacy and productive and collaborative working relationships across campus are required. Ability to support and identify the needs of diverse populations. Strong oral and written communication skills. Sound organizational skills with attention to detail.
