Community College of Philadelphia is seeking to fill a Locksmith (Technical Craft Specialist B) position. The Locksmith performs journey-level commercial locksmith work related to the repair, installation, and servicing of locks and related hardware at the Main Campus, Regional Centers and other College facilities. This includes, but is not limited to: installing, repairing, rebuilding and troubleshooting mechanical, motorized and electronic locking devices, as well as establishing and/or maintaining the College wide keying system.

Minimum Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.

• At least five (5) years of direct work experience as a professional locksmith required.

• A valid driver's license is required.

• Must be available to work nights and weekends as needed.

• Ability to work under variable weather conditions, climb ladders, and use mechanical lifts at all heights is required.

• Ability to perform activities such as lifting equipment (up to 50 lbs unassisted) bending, standing for prolonged periods of time, and climbing ladders is required.

• Must be able to handle hazardous materials safely and tolerate exposure to electrical and other environmental hazards.

• Demonstrated proficiency in the use of computers.

• Must possess basic math skills, including the ability to calculate using ratios, fractions and percentages.

• Ability to understand complex manuals and work from plans, drawings and blueprints as appropriate to the trade.

• Effective verbal and written communication skills.

• Ability to multi-task and perform a number of related job functions simultaneously, accurately and timely.

• Ability to maintain sensitivity, understanding and respect for a diverse academic environment, inclusive of students, faculty, and staff of varying social, economic, cultural, ideological, and ethnic backgrounds required.



Preferred Qualifications

• CPL certification from Associated Locksmiths of America (ALOA) and/or CJIL from Institutional Locksmiths Association (ILA) preferred.

• Previous experience working as a locksmith within an educational environment is preferred.

• Experience in metal fabrication (welding) preferred.
