Essential Functions (Job Duties)
The Clinical Interprofessional Education Program Manager will be responsible for developing and maintaining an interprofessional education collaboration between the School of Social Work and other clinical specialties at the University. The position will manage and coordinate the training and partnering of social work students with students of differing clinical specialties ( i.e., pharmacy, nursing, physical therapy, etc.,) for several entities across campus and the community. The goal is to enhance training opportunities for social work students and enhance models of care within the University and community settings. The position will report to the Dean of Social Work.

Essential Functions:
Design and implement interprofessional education programs and clinical practices to prepare future health providers with the knowledge, skills, and attitudes necessary to embrace team-based care. Develop programs, assess, evaluate and modify as needed. Responsible for the coordination of student internship placements at various clinical practice sites.

Supervise students and serve as a Field Instructor and/or a Field Liaison within Interprofessional Education student clinics and practice settings, as necessary, to ensure students are trained to problem-solve interprofessionally, think as a team member, and ultimately, understand and appreciate the contributions of each profession to clinical outcomes.

Coordinate the National Area Health Education Center (AHEC) model for the School of Social Work and all students involved, that will provide training opportunities for students to gain additional clinical knowledge and experience in underserved urban settings. Provide opportunities that will prepare underrepresented and disadvantaged youth for health care careers.

Collaborate with other health professionals ( i.e., nursing, pharmacy, public health, etc.) in provider settings to develop models of care with a focus on social work in relation to training in assessment and interventions. The position will research best practices and then develop models and training programs that may be funded through grants or the School of Social Work. The position may be involved in writing grants to support models that support interprofessional education and training.

Represent the School on University Committees related to Interprofessional Education and work groups related to Interprofessional Education (IPE) models

Perform other related duties as assigned.

Unique Duties

Qualifications
MSW and Licensed social Worker within the State of Michigan

Three (3) years of post-degree practice training

Experience working in acute medical/behavioral health settings (i.e. hospital social work; in patient psych hospital; multidisciplinary clinics, etc.)

Clinical Supervision (strongly preferred)

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Strong organizational skills.

Exemplary communication skills-writing, verbal.

Familiar with medical abbreviations

Prior experience in academic social work setting (preferred).
