Paul D. Camp Community College is a small 2-year college in Southeast Virginia. Campuses are located in Franklin and Suffolk. There also is a center in Smithfield. The college offers associate degrees, certificates, and career studies certificates In transfer and career/technical programs; credit and non-credit workforce services and training for businesses and industries; special interest classes for the community; and summer classes for youth through the Regional Workforce Development Center. A dual enrollment program for high school students, online courses, and developmental studies classes are available at the college as well.

Paul D. Camp Community College is seeking a collaborative and innovative individual to join the administrative faculty as Dean of Nursing and Allied Health Professions. The Dean is responsible for operational effectiveness and advancing the goals and objectives of the Division of Nursing and Allied Health. This is a full-time 12-month administrative faculty position that reports to the Vice President of Academic and Student Development. As the college expands education and training in high-demand professions, the Dean will have opportunity to develop and implement initiatives that grow the Division’s programs and services, and to align positions, responsibilities, and reporting structures within the Division to best support Division priorities and College mission.

 

KSA's/Required Qualifications        

  • An earned Master’s degree in Nursing from an accredited institution.
  • A valid, active, and currently unencumbered Registered Nursing License in Virginia or Compact State.
  • A minimum of two (2) years of related occupational experience providing direct patient care.
  • A minimum of two (2) years of experience as a nursing educator, and familiarity with best practices and innovative strategies in teaching and learning for nursing and the health professions, including concept-based curriculum, use of simulators and other instructional technology.
  • Qualifications of a nurse administrator as outlined in the ACEN Standards and by the Virginia Board of Nursing.
  • Understanding of the diversity of the community college student population, and commitment to sustaining a supportive teaching and learning environment that promotes success for all students.
  • Demonstrated excellent skills in oral and written communication
  • Demonstrated excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work cooperatively with multiple internal and external constituencies.
  • Familiarity with institutional and/or professional accreditation requirements and processes, as well as specialized accreditation, certification, and licensure requirements.
  • Integrity beyond question, and the ability to appropriately interpret and consistently implement policies and procedures, and ensure compliance with standards and regulations of accrediting bodies and approval agencies.
  • Demonstrated understanding of, and commitment to, the comprehensive mission of community colleges.

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Doctorate in nursing or related field from an accredited institution.
  • Experience in an administrative role.
  • Community college teaching experience in a community college nursing program.
  • Leadership of faculty and staff in a higher education setting.
  • Administrative, program management, and/or curriculum development experience.
  • Experience with active learning, team-based learning and/or other student-centered teaching methodologies.
  • Experience with development and/or implementation of concept-based curriculum in a Nursing program.
  • Experience developing online courses in a college setting.
